Shimer appeared in the Chicago Tribune recently, announcing our new program focused on allowing those 60 and over to attend classes for free. (Yes, I know this is not about "senior citizens" since many people who are 60 or above . . . . well, are not senior citizens if by that we mean what some stereotypes say. In fact, some hate the phrase. But, the Trib chooses its own headlines.) Someone recently told me the 60 and 0ver crowd (which I am going to join soon) is addressed as "honored citizens" on buses in Portland (Oregon).
In any case, we at Shimer know that education is a life long process, and we know that discussion and debate across generations is important. So: Shimer@60.
