I just moved into a new house with four other Shimer students (including fellow Shimer Blogger Meg Nelson). Our place is coming together great, but there's one thing we need: BOOKSHELVES.
We each have more books than any person should reasonably own, by non-Shimerian standards. We're average by Shimer standards. We have a few shelves, but nowhere near enough, plus lots of them are ugly, mismatched and falling apart. Most of our books are still in boxes or stacks on the floor. This will not do.
So, if you live in the Chicago area, and have some old bookshelves in your attic that are collecting space, please, help. I do not want to have to resort to milk crates; Socrates deserves better.
I'm also planning on building some of these:

I take my books to Powells, for cold hard cash?
